Strong Houston involvement at ONS 2008
A number of companies from Houston as well as the city’s top leadership will have a strong presence at ONS 2008 after becoming twinned with Stavanger.
The two major oil centres have also concluded an agreement on expanded collaboration over industry and research.
Kjell Ursin-Smith, president and CEO of the ONS Foundation, was recently in Houston as a member of a large Stavanger delegation and says he is extremely pleased with the visit.
– I’ve met a number of companies which can help to make ONS 2008 even more exciting, he reports. –They have newly-developed technology for both conventional and renewable energy.
He adds that representatives from Houston will also be involved in the ONS festival. – I can promise that there will be much to enjoy.
Headed by mayor Leif Johan Sevland, the Stavanger delegation includes representatives from the city’s university, research community and business development bodies.
Meetings have been held with four universities in Texas, major business development organisations and the political and administrative leadership of Houston.
